Songs From The Orange Dog
Recorded in conjunction with the 154 Collective's theatre production Dancing With The Orange Dog
Only this moment is real. The rest is just storytelling.
This is Dan. His idol, his Granddad, is a story. Dan's just discovered this. He's also realised that he too is just a story. Now he can't sleep.
Then there's Lucy. She just wants to tell stories about her loved ones. Stories that make others see the best in them. Even if that means lying a little bit.
Immerse yourself in this multi-art form experience, including an Art Exhibition, a Theatre performance and a live set of music by The Housekeeping Society.
Using theatre, dance, music, artwork and photography the 154 Collective presents an intimate and quirky tale about stories; why we tell them and why we sometimes turn them into shaggy dogs. Made in partnership with Routes North. Routes North is a partnership between ARC Stockton, The Lowry and Theatre in the Mill that supports selected companies to make and show new work across the Northern region.
The initial run of Dancing With The Orange Dog was staged 8-16 February. We hope to have news on future developments soon - stay in touch for updates. Our album Songs From The Orange Dog, written around the stories and themes from the play, is available now on CD and download.
Let Bygones Be: A Soundtrack
"Let Bygones Be: A Soundtrack" is the first entirely instrumental release by The Housekeeping Society. Created as a commission from the contemporary dance group CoActive, the album sees the band working in a completely different way. The album has been released in a download-only format.
CoActive's film "Let Bygones Be" is the final piece in a trilogy of works based on the emotions of betrayal, grief and forgiveness and was funded by the BBC Performing Arts Fund. It is inspired by Jaume Plensa's 2011 exhibition at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (where part of the project was filmed) and will form part of an installation/live performance scheduled for May 2013.
